RENOVATION & RENEWAL OF OUR CHURCH
HOW ARE WE PROGRESSING?
COME AND FIND OUT.
COME AND SHARE YOUR IDEAS!
TOWN HALL MEETING – TUESDAY APRIL 8th
In January the parish hired a wonderful architect, Adam Hermanson, to assist us with the renovation and renewal of our beloved church. The first step in the renewal process was to establish a Focus Committee. This Committee is composed of the following parishioners: Jackie Bell, Troy Bettinger, Monica Payne, Leonard Pomponio and Minnie Slusarski. They have been meeting weekly since the end of January in order to establish a scope and a list of guidelines to guide the architect in his work.
Why is this important? The architect doesn’t know the 50 year history of our church unless we tell him; he doesn’t know what works well and what doesn’t unless we show him, he doesn’t know what our hopes are for our church are until we prioritize them for him. It is the job of the Focus Committee to share the vision and needs of the parish with the architect so that his work will be best that it can be.
Like every project, we have a limited amount of money to spend. It is the work of the Committee and the parish to give our architect a list of priorities so that our money is spent wisely and well.
This is where you come in. Your input is vital. The Focus Committee has developed a list of priorities but before we finalize them and pass them on to the architect, you need to know what they are and we need to hear from you. During our Town Hall meeting, we will discuss the priorities as a parish and ask you to give your ideas. If the strong majority of you agree with the direction that we are headed, then we will proceed. If you don’t, then back to the drawing board we will go! Will we be looking at designs and drawings during this meeting? No. Why? No designs have been drawn nor would it be wise to draw any up until the project priorities are first finalized and approved.
So, your ideas are important! I invite you to come to the parish-wide Town Hall Meeting on Tuesday, April 8th, at 7:00 pm in the Fr. Puhl Parish Center. We look forward to seeing you there!
I expect we will have a good crowd. Would it be possible to make an announcement- at the meeting- about the blog? I would like to see more action here. Plenty of hits, but not a lot of comments. I’m feeling kind of self-conscious! 🙂
