Oh – you must be talking about St. Hubert’s!
St. Hubert is a Roman Catholic Church located in Hoffman Estates, IL about 30 miles northwest of Chicago. St. Hubert Parish offers a school (pre-school through 8th grade), religious education program, youth ministry, numerous organizations, and 9 masses weekly. Founded in 1960, Saint Hubert Church primarily serves the communities of Hoffman Estates, Elk Grove and Schaumburg, Illinois but has parishioners from other suburbs including Roselle, Palatine, Algonquin, Huntley, Bartlett, Elgin, Melrose Park.
St. Hubert’s is in the middle of a renovation project, first proposed in 2006. The budget seems to be around $1.3M. Details of the scope of the project are sparse, but the pictures on the web page should look familiar to those of us from Holy Trinity. Looks like the room is a bit dusty…
Judging by their May/June 2006 Parishioner Feedback, the folks at St. Hubert’s were thinking about some of the same things we’ve been discussing. Here are some of their comments:
- I am not interested in the structural layout of the church, but rather the feeling of holiness inside.
- What is seating capacity?
- Will there be a special place dedicated to Mary or statue of Mary by a meditation place?
- Choir loft or balcony?
- Put in vigil lights
- Will there be Stations of the Cross in the new church?
- Would like a cry room — could pews be added behind glass partition dividing the church form the narthex?
- Will bathrooms be remodeled?
- Is a bell tower thought about?
Please pray for the parishioners of St. Hubert’s and for the successful completion of their project.
Well, I think there was quite a bit of interest in the structural layout of the church at our first town-hall meeting. There seemed to be a concensus that the church should not be in the round, but that the altar should remain front and center.
I like how this church has floor to ceiling windows- if they were stained glass- that would be kind of nice, I think. They would let in more natural light.
