>I wish the stations of the Cross were
>not all grouped together as they seem
>to be in this picture.

Maria -
The good news is that the interior design is not completed. The stations on the drawing are an approximation, not a guarantee. The important things about this sketch are the architectural details, not the interior furnishings.

It's really nice!

I wish the stations of the Cross were not all grouped together as they seem to be in this picture. If we are to continue our great Soup and Stations tradition that's going to be awkward. I think if the church is still supposed to feel like "home", that means holding on to some of the traditions we have come to associate with HT- such as being able to face the Mary statue at the end of Daily Mass and walking the stations of the cross.

LOVE the windows as they look here.

Again, is there any increase in seating?

Hi All;

I am really sorry I missed the town hall meeting. It appears that much was presented there. I like what I am seeing here on the blog.

My cruise when very well with my visit to the House of Mary in Ephesus and the chance to say a Rosary to Marilyn at the icon of the Virgin of Guadalupe in Santo Stefano d'Aveto, Italy.

I don't know if our comments are still beign considered, but here are my thoughts on the design:

I love how the exterior looks.

As far as the interior:

--I have reservations about the baptismal font being at the entrance- I would request it be covered. It has been my experience that when you have an open baptismal font at the entrance, everyone feels free to dip their fingers in there, kids think it's a place to wash your hands or a play area during Mass, etc. - not very hygenic.

--The sanctuary is nice, but it seems to me the more traditional design- with a Baldaccino- without an altar rail is incongruent. Given the growing use of the Tridentine Mass- I think one would show forethought.-

--I'm kind of sad the Mary statue will be moved to the back of the church (I assume that's what you mean by the "chapel"). Daily Mass goers have a tradition of turning towards the Mary statue to sing the Salve Regina "to her" it will be very sad to see that go.

--I love the natural light coming from above!

-- Questions:

Have we increased seating at all?

Also, is handicapped seating at the back now? If so I think that poses several problems- Could we have some up front as well as in back?

Another fabulous quote from Pope Benedict.

I do love our statues at HT. I hope more will be added with the church renovation.

I would like to see some saints (other than St. Joseph).

I like this idea of a "Heresy of the Month"!

It is the Church of the Holy Spirit in Vilnius , Lithuania.

Here's some of the caption that accompanied the picture:

" ... A church was standing in this place already in early 14th century, that is, when we were still pagan... It was later given to oldest in Lithuania - Dominican order and reconstructed in 1679-88.

...Church and monastery have an extensive underground tunnel network, with catacombs that hold ~2000 mummified bodies. After regaining the independence, the church was given to polish predominently catholic minority in Vilnius, and now serves as their "main" church."

Here's the link. They have other church architecture pictures as well.

I agree too. I think that style is called "Rococo Loco".

Where is that church?

"Therefore, the buildings in which we worship should be beautiful, which is not to say highly elaborate or impossibly expensive."

I agree,

Here's an example of something I consider way too elaborate!
